About Us

The Metamora Lions Club was chartered October 13, 1948. October 2008, marks the sixtieth anniversary of the Club. The Metamora Lions Club is a secular service club that concentrates its efforts to improve the quality of life in the Metamora Community. It is chartered by Lion Clubs International and is in District 11-D2 of the Lions Clubs of Michigan.

Our Club has a membership roster of 100 plus members from all walks of life. The Club has seven Melvin Jones Fellows amongst its members living and deceased. The Melvin Jones Fellowship is the highest recognition awarded by Lions Clubs International. There has been two Past District Governors and two Past District Cabinet Secretary Treasurers from the Metamora Lions Club.

The Club supports Lions initiatives: Leader Dogs for the Blind, Lions Bear Lake Camp (Lapeer, MI), Welcome Homes and eyeglass collections to mention a few. The Club also supports local organizations and projects such as: Project Graduation, Scouting, 4H Club, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Metamora Days, Metamora Christmas Tree Lighting, Red Cross Blood Drive, Celebration of the Horse, Metamora Chamber of Commerce, Metamora Township Fire and Police Departments.

Also, as part of its service to the community the Club maintains a playground on the Hall property for use by local children. The Hall is also available for community functions (click here for details).
